A new luxury hotel lodge in North Iceland

A new 5500 square meter luxury hotel will be built in the north of Iceland. The hotel will be located in the hills of Þengilhöfði, just south of Grenivik village, offering open views towards Tröllaskagi peninsula and Eyjafjörður fjord.

The hotel will include 40 rooms as well as a restaurant, bar, spa and wellness facilities and more. The hotel will focus on recreational tourism such as heliskiing, mountain skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, hunting, fishing and more.

ÖRUGG consulting engineers is responsible for the fire safety design of the building, which will be four storeys and partly constructed from reinforced concrete and partly from prefabricated timber elements. The main objective of the fire safety design is to ensure the safety of people and property protection in case of fire. At the same time it is important to ensure that fire safety measures take other design aspects into account, so that the final product will be of high quality in all aspects. The architects of the hotel is G1 Architecture in the UK and AVH in Akureyri, Iceland.

The design is now ongoing and construction is expected to commence in the spring of 2021.
